In 2023, NASA’s Global Precipitation Measurement Mission Applications Team and University of Coimbra’s Earth and Space Science Center (CITEUC Portugal) collaborated to host the second edition of the GPM Mentorship Program. The initiative supported new and existing user communities, providing a tailored hands-on learning experience in using GPM data for applications. GPM Overpass of Hurricane Otis
After rapidly intensifying overnight, Hurricane Otis made landfall near Acapulco, Mexico around 1:25 a.m. CDT (06:25 UTC) on Wednesday Oct. 25 as a powerful Category 5 hurricane. Otis had maximum sustained winds estimated at 165 mph by the National Hurricane Center (NHC), making it the first Category 5 as well as the most powerful storm to hit the Pacific coast of Mexico on record. Otis formed into a tropical depression (TD 18-E) on the morning of Sunday Oct. 22 about 530 miles (850 km) south-southeast of Acapulco from a broad area of low pressure. 2023 PMM Science Team Meeting

The meeting is by invitation* to Precipitation Measurement Mission (PMM) Science Team members and specified affiliates. Monday, September 18, 2023, is devoted to working group meetings. Tuesday through Thursday, September 19-21, 2023, will consist of general oral and poster sessions covering mission/program status, partner reports, science activities, field campaign results, and other science team business.  Friday, September 22, 2023, is devoted to algorithm team meetings (all Science Team Meeting attendees are invited).

IMERG V07 Final Run Retrospective Processing Completed

As of Aug. 30, 2023, the entire available record of archived TRMM, GPM Core Observatory, partner satellite, and ancillary data has been retrospectively processed for the IMERG V07 Final Run dataset, covering June 2000 - April 2023. Initial processing (i.e., with newly arrived data) will extend the Final Run record as additional months of data are received, typically 3.5 months after the near real-time products, which users can determine by checking the IMERG Final Run data listings on the PPS or GES DISC GPM data sources (a full listing of GPM data downloads and sources can be found in the GPM

GPM L3 GPROF Daily and Monthly and L3 CLIM GPROF products will be updated to V07C on September 07, 2023

Commencing with the data date of Friday September 1, 2023 all GPM L3 GPROF Daily and Monthly products will be updated to the designation V07C. PPS will be making these V07C products available to the public starting on Thursday September 7, 2023. The L3 CLIM GPROF data products will also be updated on Thursday September 7, 2023. These products will commence with the data start date of Thursday June 1, 2023 and also have the designation V07C.
