As announced earlier in the month, the PPS are updating the GPM near-realtime (NRT) servers on Monday, June 3. The IMERG product will also be updated to V07B at this time. Details: The update will start at approximately 10:00 UTC 3 June 2024 No NRT products will be produced for about 4 hours during the system update. This also means no L1 GMI, radar, combined, partner products, or L2 products will be produced during this time. Following successful system updates, PPS will the start L1 and L2 data production. The PPS has moved the date of the GPM Near-realtime (NRT) computing system updates to take place on Monday, June 3, 2024. At this time, IMERG will also be updated to V07. June 1 and 2 IMERG data will be included in the “initial processing”, so that the entire month will be available at V07 without having to wait for the Final to be processed at the usual 3.5-month latency. On June 1, 2024, the Precipitation Processing System (PPS) will be performing updates and maintenance on the GPM near real-time (NRT) servers. As a result, GPM NRT data will not be produced during this time and it's expected that the GPM NRT servers will be inaccessible for several hours. In event of anomalies during the update process, the servers may be down for a few days. In addition, the following updates are planned for IMERG V07: On June 1, 2024, hour 00, IMERG V07 Early and Late will begin production at the PPS (Initial Processing [IP]). Since January 2024 the PPS has been running the GPM near-realtime (NRT) radar Ku, Ka, DPR and the combined products with an interim version of the post-boost radar algorithms. This was designated with the data product version V07X (experimental). JAXA and the radar algorithm team have developed the final post-boost V07 algorithm and will be delivering this on 5 March 2024. On Dec. 5 2023, the DPR was successfully returned to science mode at 16:30 UTC, then GMI was successfully brought online at 19:30 UTC. The spacecraft final configuration was completed at 20:30 UTC, returning the GPM Core Observatory to full science mode and resuming science data production.

As of Aug. 30, 2023, the entire available record of archived TRMM, GPM Core Observatory, partner satellite, and ancillary data has been retrospectively processed for the IMERG V07 Final Run dataset, covering June 2000 - April 2023. Initial processing (i.e., with newly arrived data) will extend the Final Run record as additional months of data are received, typically 3.5 months after the near real-time products, which users can determine by checking the IMERG Final Run data listings on the PPS or GES DISC GPM data sources (a full listing of GPM data downloads and sources can be found in the GPM

Commencing with the data date of Friday September 1, 2023 all GPM L3 GPROF Daily and Monthly products will be updated to the designation V07C. PPS will be making these V07C products available to the public starting on Thursday September 7, 2023. The L3 CLIM GPROF data products will also be updated on Thursday September 7, 2023. These products will commence with the data start date of Thursday June 1, 2023 and also have the designation V07C. The IMERG development team has become aware that a small number of isolated bad Level 2 GPROF orbit granules leaked into V07A IMERG Final Run processing. The team is working with PPS to identify a more-complete list of such instances and trace them back to the Level 1C microwave data. Additional testing is being done and might reveal a few more cases. We are providing this information now in case the times happen to impinge on a detailed study that you are performing.
